Martha's Market
Martha's Market every Thursday at 9:30-11:00 a.m.
EarlyThursday mornings early, beginning around 7 a.m., people start to arrive. The Santa Barbara Food Bank brings fresh produce and staple foods like rice and beans and more. Food for growing families, seniors, unhoused people and others who are having a tough time making ends meet.
It's definitely a family affair. As they gather at St. Peter's and wait for the chance to collect their share of the produce the children come along and play with toys and color pictures while mom and dad collect the food.
Neighbors and other people from the community assist with this complex undertaking. Including members of the Methodist Church and VTC Enterprises. Donations come from people and organizations across very different backgrounds. Martha's Market has become a noticeable fixture in the life of this community.
The Martha’s Meals program is a member of the Food Bank of Santa Barbara County.
We provide referrals for our clients to health and social service programs in the community.
Different agencies and organization come and give information and resources while people await their staple foods.
Volunteers are welcome.
Martha’s Market Resurrection Collection: The Red Wagon is now in the Baptistry entrance. Please consider bringing an item or two each week to top-up our food pantry. We have been serving approximately 200 families and individuals each Thursday morning. Every little item helps. Suggested items: pop-top canned fruits (pineapple, mixed fruit, peaches, pears, etc.), pop-top or key opening meats and fish like corned beef, spam, mackerel, sardines, tuna. Toiletries are also a welcome contribution to our clients on a limited budget: toothbrushes, floss, toothpaste, shampoo, conditioner, and soap. Later in the year we are planning a diaper collection. Thank you for your generous donations so far
